Shifting Sands 2012 . . . Duel in the Desert

When
February 25th - 26th

Where
Vul-Con, Phoenix Convention Center, Phoenix AZ

What
Flames of War
2000pts desert doubles event covering Early war, Mid War and Raiding.
5 Rounds (3 Saturday, 2 Sunday)

Basic rules (subject to change):
  • Each player builds a 1000pt list with a 100pt swing allowed (so one player could have 900pts, the other 1100pts) as long as the total for both players does not exceed 2000pts.
  • Only 1 player is required to bring an HQ. If both players bring an HQ choice, a D6 roll before each game will determine who is the commander for that game. Only 1 HQ can give platoon rerolls for Motivation and take company morale checks. Allied HQs can still roll company morale rolls, even if the only remaining troops on the table are allied. They still cannot join allied platoons for any reason.
  • Warriors are allowed. Only one of the same type of warrior is allowed per force. See below for lists of allowed special characters.
  • No air support is allowed. Air support will be decided by the raiding missions. If you have aircraft, please bring them with you.

Day 1 is Early War and all lists will be built from Hellfire and Back.

Day 2 is Mid War and all lists will be built from North Africa along with modifications that will be listed here.

Your day 1 list must match your day 2 list according to the rules listed below (so a player using a panzer kompanie on day 1 must use a panzer kompanie on day 2).

During the event, players will be pulled away from their partner to play raid missions which will influence the rest of the battles. All raiding and defending forces will be provided.

Each type of force will be given a point value to determine the attacker/defender in defensive battles as follows.

Fortification Company: 1 point
Infantry Company: 3 points
Mechanized Company: 4 points
Armoured Company: 6 points
Total the 2 armies together to give final points for your army defensive battle number. The team with the highest total play as the attacker.

Keep up with the newest information on the Battlefront web forum.

Day 1 to Day 2 force composition

Please note that we are considering adding a few more forces such as Italian Fucilieri for Day 1, British fortification company for day 2 and a Free French Company for day 2. Please keep checking here for more details. If there is a list you do not see that you think should be there historically let us know and we will look into having it added.
